Robinhood’s Money Drills Levels the Financial Playing Field: Expanding Financial Education to New Campuses and More Athletes

University of Delaware, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Pennsylvania State University, and Stanford University to introduce financial education coursework with support from Robinhood Money Drills; Program expands to support certifications for Pro Athletes
Robinhood Money Drills® is launching at four new campuses this fall, expanding financial education courses to students at the University of Delaware, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Pennsylvania State University, and Stanford University. These new schools join 11 other colleges and universities across the country that have already added financial education to its playbook for student success. Through the Money Drills program, Robinhood has brought educational courses to thousands of college students. With the addition of new partnerships this fall, that impact continues to grow.
Open to all students, and designed with athletes in mind, Money Drills expands access to financial education for college students through university-led courses for graduation credit. Student athletes often begin earning NIL income while still in college—sometimes before they’ve had the chance to build a basic financial foundation. National studies show that many college students struggle with emergency savings and credit card debt, underscoring the importance of giving them practical tools they can use right away. With support from Robinhood and guidance from professors, students learn practical skills in budgeting, saving, investing, and credit—along with best practices on navigating NIL income. The goal: to equip young adults with the playbook they need to manage their finances and plan confidently for the future while earning graduation credit.
“We are thrilled to welcome these schools into the Money Drills program and proud to help more students access the skills they’ll need to thrive as they grow into successful athletes and financially savvy adults,” said Chloe Barz, Senior Director of International Government and External Affairs at Robinhood Markets, Inc. “With Robinhood’s support and professors’ expertise, we’re able to reach students exactly where they are, providing them with relevant and meaningful financial tools.”
Since the program launched over two years ago, 96% of participating students have reported that their ability to manage personal finances has improved thanks to the financial education provided through the course. Surveys show most students are interested in learning about taxes, investing, and debt management. Robinhood delivers, providing access to financial education that’s within reach and easy to understand.
“Knowledge is power, and in this rapidly changing era of college sport, our athletes must be empowered as stewards of their own finances,” said Dr. Erianne A. Weight, Director of the Center for Research in Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. “We are deeply grateful for Robinhood’s Money Drills program, which allows us at UNC–Chapel Hill to expand financial literacy opportunities, add additional course sections, and foster peer mentorship. By equipping our athletes with these skills, we also prepare them to navigate the complex power dynamics, negotiations, and opportunities that surround them—ensuring they can thrive not only during their playing careers but long after the final whistle.”
“At Lerner College, we strive to prepare every student with the skills and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly changing world,” said Oliver Yao, Dean of the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware. “Financial literacy is fundamental to both professional and personal success, and this new course is a perfect example of how we are creating innovative, accessible learning opportunities that equip students for life beyond the classroom.”
“At Penn State, we’re thrilled to partner with Robinhood on the Money Drills program addressing our Division I student-athletes’ unique financial and career development needs,” said Julie Heaton, Director of the Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center at Pennsylvania State University. “This collaboration is about more than money—it’s about giving our athletes the tools to navigate life with confidence, in their sport, classrooms, and careers. The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will provide financial literacy curriculum content, working with the Morgan Academic Center, Student-Athlete Development and Enrichment, and Workforce Education and Development Program to deliver credit-bearing courses designed for athletes managing scholarships, preparing for professional sports careers, or planning alternative paths.”
“Stanford Athletics is proud to partner with Robinhood Money Drills to support the holistic success and well-being of our student-athletes,” said Dr. Meredith E. Basil, Associate Dean of Academic Advising at Stanford University. “Financial wellness education is imperative in the changing landscape of intercollegiate athletics, and this innovative collaboration will ensure Stanford student-athletes have the confidence to make informed financial decisions during and after their time on the Farm.”
Supporting Athletes on the Field
In addition to welcoming new Money Drills schools this fall, Robinhood is proud to announce an official, multi-year partnership with Stanford University Athletics Department to support both the university and student athletes. Stanford plays a significant role in Robinhood’s origin story as the place where co-founders Vlad Tenev and Baiju Bhatt first met—and with this new partnership, Stanford also becomes the first collegiate team to join our growing portfolio of athletic sponsorships including OGC Nice, 23XI Racing, Washington Wizards, Miami HEAT, and the Memphis Grizzlies. Through these partnerships, Robinhood aligns with dynamic organizations to reach passionate fan communities, introduce the platform to new audiences, and advance our mission of financial empowerment.
Extending Beyond the Classroom with Pro Athlete Community
Extending the reach of the Money Drills program, Robinhood has also joined forces with the Pro Athlete Community (PAC). PAC, designed to help professional athletes develop business acumen and networking skills, mirrors Money Drills’ mission to invest in the future of athletes beyond their time on the field. Through this partnership, PAC will provide educational courses to their members focused on personal finance and professional development. This coursework offers athletes in their network the opportunity to earn executive education through the University of Miami and engage with like-minded peers who are building their futures beyond the big leagues.
“Financial literacy matters because making money is only half the story. It’s not just about earning—it’s about knowing how to invest wisely, protect your assets, and make smart decisions that build long-term stability,” said Jamar Taylor, NFL Veteran and PAC member. “When you master that, you’re not just chasing checks, you’re building a legacy, turning life’s Monopoly board into something you own.”
By teaming up with coaches, professors, and athletes themselves, Robinhood is helping students strengthen their financial defense, build winning strategies, and prepare for success beyond the scoreboard. With Money Drills, financial education isn’t sitting on the sideline—it’s part of the game plan.
